You don’t need a big SUV for big off-road chops. In this model overview, we dive into some of the most inspiring advantages that make the 2021 Jeep Renegade a great choice for some of our most adventurous customers here in Trinidad, CO and the surrounding area.
The 2021 Jeep Renegade is available in eight trim levels this year, including the Sport, 80th Anniversary, Latitude, Upland, Trailhawk®, Limited, Jeepster, and Islander. Each option has its own unique personality and range of standard features, but what’s certain is that all Renegades come packed with push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, heated side mirrors, and a full suite of smart driver assists that keep the SUV on high alert. (We’ll touch on some of those later.)
The 2021 Jeep Renegade is designed to glide over uneven terrain with a ground clearance that starts at 6.7 inches on 4x2 models or 8.0 inches on 4x4 models. Arguably the best small off-road SUV on the market, the Renegade Trailhawk® has an 8.7-inch ground clearance, a 30.3-degree approach angle, a 24.4-degree breakover angle, and a 33.6-degree departure angle. Optional Active Drive 4x4 and Active Drive Low 4x4 systems provide up to five selectable drive modes for various on- and off-road conditions, including available Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and Rock modes.
Engine wise, most versions of the 2021 Renegade are motivated by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that returns 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Not bad, right? Limited and Trailhawk® models are upgraded to a potent 1.3-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that sends it flying at 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. Both pair with a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission.
More safety features become standard this year, meaning all new Renegades now come with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assistance, and a rearview camera all built in. The entry-level Renegade Sport trim level now has a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the previously standard 5-inch display. The rest of the MY 2021 update is punctuated by a reshuffling of features with more standard equipment on the Limited and Trailhawk® models.
